Funky Fingers Moonwalk

Hey! Today I want to show you a polish I got because of my silly ideas. I was ordering China Glaze Atlantis on Ebay, and, as I always do, end up looking for another one or two to save on postage. Yes, I feel like I spend less if I buy more. LOL.

I decided to buy Funky Fingers Moonwalk, a gorgeous black with holographic glitter (much like Atlantis, only the glitter is much smaller). And, to my luck, the sun decided to pop out for an hour so I could take some pics!

Funky Fingers Moonwalk

I used NailTek II basecoat, 1 coat Wet'n'wild Black creme, 1 coat Moonwalk and 1 coat Seche Vite topcoat. When there's little to no light, the glitter looks like small grey flecks. I think that's prettier than the perfect round glitters used in most glitters :)

That's all I had for today! Happy Halloween everybody!

NOTD : Barry M Nail Effects

I decided to make an easy mani today without glitter as I'm sure it's better for my nails in the longrun - glitter is rough on the nails, especially removing. I still haven't received any nail art pens or brushes I've ordered, so I can't make free-hand just yet (I'm sooo looking forward to when I can, though!). I looked in my cabinet and found my BarryM Nail Effects which I got a little while ago, and thought it was a good opportunity to try it out :) It's easy to apply (though it dries quickly on the brush) and a good idea for days where you're in a hurry but still want funky nails to keep you company!

Base colours - GOSH Gypsy Blue and Catrice I Scream Peach - 1 coat.

BarryM Nail Effects - flash
shade/no flash
I love the matte effect on the glossy polish; it makes the base look wet :) Have you tried this effect polish? What do you think of it? And do you think OPI's collab with Serena Williams will be pretty much the same?

This is not how I pictured my peppermint cuticle oil :(

I got the envelope in my hands, noticed water damage and thought "odd, it doesn't rain.. oh no!" and then I smelled the sweet peppermint. I already knew it was the best bottle that broke. Urgh.

China Glaze Peppermint Cuticle oil - not much left, is there?

I guess it was supposed to happen sooner or later. I'm still not happy about it though, I badly need a cuticle oil and had waited on purpose to get this seasons peppermint from China Glaze, and this was the main reason I bought this gift set. At least the seller promised to send me another one right away. She hadn't packed bubblewrap around the bottles to keep them from rattling into each-other, so I don't think it's a case of the postal workers being sloppy.

On a much happier note, I have started baking every now and then. I've been baking test batches of christmas cookies (my first times baking cookies, I wasn' sure how it would go LOL), and muffins with apple/cinnamon flavour.

Apple/cinnamon muffin. It tasted so good! :)

Tomorrow I'll be doing a new manicure (not sure which polish to use yet!), so I promise next post is more nail-related LOL.

Have a great weekend!

Across The Universe

Yesterday I checked out H&M on my way home from work to see if they had gotten new nail polishes. They had! I bought 5 or so, and one of them is the base for today's manicure :)

It's a dark teal creme called Moody Model, a very shiny, almost jelly-ish polish - and wearing it, I realised what all the NARS Zulu fuss was all about. I love this type of nail polish! Even though it's "just" a creme, I couldn't stop looking at it (and I have been wearing OPI Mad as a Hatter for a week so it was hard to top LOL). This colour is hard to catch on pics so I will leave you with a no-flash and a flashed pic. The colour is something in between the two IRL.

H&M Moody Model - I'm sorry it's so blurry! No flash

H&M Moody Model - flash

In my humble opinion, H&M isn't exactly cheap polish - in Denmark this line costs about 8$, so I have pretty high expectations to the polish. Moody Model didn't disappoint one bit! I've wanted a perfect dark teal for a while and this one is right up my alley! :) I'm wearing two coats on the pictures.

Now, after having worn Moody Model for a day, I went to check it with my glitters to see if it would be a good base for any of them. To my luck Lippmanns Across The Universe looked pretty beside it, so I took the chance! I needed a little special polish today to lighten my mood anyway.

Across The Universe - bottle pic
Here is the result! 2 coats Moody Model and 1 coat Across The Universe. One top coat for an almost smooth finish.

Moody Model + Across The Universe

Moody Model + Across The Universe

Moody Model + Across The Universe
I love it! Not nearly as deep as Across The Universe is on it's own, but still very beautiful. And one bottle will last a lot longer if you use it as a top coat only every once in a while ;)

Most amazing polish haul ever!

What started as a crappy day with a headache forcing me to stay home, turned into a great day when the mailman rang the doorbell (and not only because that means he has a package, it also means he's learned to use it LOL). And not just any package..
The package. The one I've been the most excited about all month, including polishes that has kept me drooling, dreaming and sighing for a long time! An amazing friend in the US helped me get them - I owe her a million hugs and at least as many thank-you's, without her help I would've never gotten them ♥ If you've noticed my blogs new header (of course you have!), you've seen 3 of them. I have seriously never longed as a much for any make-up as I have for Lippmann's glitter polishes. I saw them on NegleNymfernes blog this summer, and nearly threw a fit when I realised they would be hard (and expensive) to get my fingers on.

Bad Romance, Happy Birthday & Across the Universe

My quest to get Happy Birthday, Bad Romance and Across the Universe has ended. I am still thinking about Today Was A Fairytale, but right now I feel pretty content with these three (and I should be ashamed if I didn't, right?). I hope Lippmann continues to make more gorgeous, dazzling glitters, I feel like stuffing an entire cabinet with these pretties. Imagine the entire rainbow represented in these glitters? ♥

I finally figured out how to do better macro-shots with my camera, so I included one of each for you. I will save these for a special occassion or a day I really need a pick-me-up, so for now they will remain unused.

Deborah Lippmann - Bad Romance

Deborah Lippmann - Happy Birthday

Deborah Lippmann - Across the Universe
Finding a favourite between these three is hard. I know I am more thrilled about Across The Universe and Happy Birthday than Bad Romance, but between those two it's a tie. They are both equally amazing, Across being a dazzling colour combo and Happy being so funky and unique.

Now for the three last polishes in the package. I'm sure everyone knows about the Venomous Villains collection collab MAC made with Disney by now, it has been out for a while. I was sure I could buy it online, but since I'm don't have a pro-thingy, they got sold out before the official release (ask me if I was gutted!). My hopes of getting these three already elusive polishes got a lot smaller. I had already asked my friend if she could buy the Lippmann Polishes for me, so I didn't want to trouble her further. I made a wanted ad in the (non-polish) forum, and she hooked me up with a pm saying she'd be glad to look for them! This was the day before the release I believe. She found a nearby store, and made plans to check out if they got it in her lunch break on the release day! She got a set for me, and later that day they were already sold out all over her town! I feel like the luckiest girl in the world ♥ It was so sweet of her to do it between work and everything.

MAC Bad Fairy, Formidable and Mean & Green
Aren't they beautiful?! They are so much prettier IRL, twinkling and shining ♥

MAC - Bad Fairy

MAC - Formidable
MAC - Mean & Green (sorry for the quality of this pic)
My fav of the three has to be Formidable. I can see myself wearing this one all the time (I'm thrilled there are dupes out there, this bottle won't last long LOL), the latter two are a tie. All three are amazing though, I'm super psyched about adding them to my collection! :D

That's all I have for you today, but to me it's honestly more than enough! 6 new polishes and only two hands LOL.. Which one should I try out first?

Off to rest my poor head again, see you soon!

NOTD - Mad as a Hatter

As promised I have pics of OPI Mad as a Hatter for you today!

Sparkle sparkle!

I was recently looking through google and the blogs I follow, and I couldn't seem to find a swatch with MAAH on a grey creme, so I decided to try it out and hoped for the best. IMO, glitters come more to live with a calm base colour, and it doesn't take you 4 coats to cover so you save the sparkly goodness too ;) Of course it doesn't look as deep as 4 coats alone would, but I can live with that. I'd rather wear MAAH twice as many times before emptying the bottle!

I used NailTek basecoat, 2 coats of GOSH Miss Grey, 2 coats (last one only to cover bald spots) MAAH and 2 coats of Seche Vite topcoat.

GOSH Miss Grey

The weather is very grey today so my pictures aren't the best. I also haven't had the time to moisten my cuticles before the pictures, and I've been cleaning a bit this morning so they look dry. I still hope you enjoy the pictures!

Depending on how much light it catches, it will go from light grey to dark almost black with lots of sparkles. This polish did not disappoint and I had very high expectations! ;)

Friday means weekend!

And weekend means yay! :) I have been looking forward to Friday since Monday morning, LOL!

Wednesday afternoon the mailman brought me a package - containing China Glaze Atlantis and Funky Fingers Moonwalk! Pics of the gorgeous holo sparkle goodness soon, I forgot to take bottle pics yesterday.
I'm a little late showing you this mani, as I put it on Wednesday. The reason for sparkles on my nails on a working day? A family dinner at my parents place! I'll take any excuse for wearing new nail polishes ♥

Anyhow, I was actually quite disappointed with it. Somehow China Glaze's Atlantis doesn't look good on a sea green base. It reminded me more of a plastic christmas tree with too much bling on it, but I didn't have time enough to make another mani (you know how stubborn glitter is when it comes to removal!) so I decided to give it a chance. It didn't grew on me. Atlantis is beautiful in the bottle, so I'll try again with another base one day. And more layers of glitter to make that deep effect.

I used this no-name sea green as base (middle one in the pic) it was very thick and hard to apply, but a great colour on it's own.

Not as smooth as it is pretty! Sea green base, middle bottle

1 layer of sea green base, 1 layer Atlantis and 2 layers of Seche Vite topcoat.

Here's the manicure result ~

China Glaze Atlantis - holo glitter goodness!

Thank you to all of those who follow and comment on my blog - I really appreciate it! You guys makes it worth it sharing pics and new additions! ♥

I also want to share my excitement about not having broken or chipped a nail for an entire week! This is quite the record for me, through weeks that I'm working! ♥ My nails are usually very brittle and I'm always chipping a thin layer off, which is very annoying (and makes the nail even more brittle). I'm sure it's a combination of the base and topcoat I switched to - NailTek II Foundation (ridgefilling) and Seche Vite fast drying topcoat. And the fact that I take a little more care while working, not ripping too many cardboard boxes open without a knife LOL!
Now that I've shared the good news I'm sure I'll break a nail soon... But I'm willing to take that chance! I had to let it out :)

Right now I've just put on Mad As A Hatter but you'll have to wait until tomorrow with pics of this beauty! It's too dark and bathroom pics just ain't good enough for this polish ♥ ♥ ♥

Recent Ebay and shopping haul!

My "Happy Grey" konadicure is still looking great (the first time my mani has lasted 3 days, wow!), so I decided to wait until tomorrow to make a new mani. Until then, I figured I could show you what I've gotten in the mail and bought on my shopping trip the past week!

First, OPI Ebay haul ~ from the new Burlesque collection!

Show It & Glow It, Shimmer & Shimmer, Sparkle-iscious & Teasey Does It

I also ordered this green beauty ~

Here Today.. Aragon Tomorrow (suede)

And this glitter I have been lemming for quite a while! ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

OPI Mad As A Hatter ♥
Close-up of the sparkly goodness that is truly mad as the hatter! ♥

And here is a comparison shot to Sparkle-iscious. MAAH is more grey/silvery with more colours in it, whereas Sparkle is more golden.

OPI Mad As A Hatter and Sparkle-iscious comparison
On my shopping trip I found the following polishes ~

Cheap no-name polish in beautiful colours!

The dark blue looks sheer.. Can't wait to try 'em out!

Who says anonymous polishes aren't gorgeous!
Two polishes from H&M and a cheap brand called Trend ~

No Mambo Jambo, Happy Grey & noname Trend polish
No Mambo Jambo deserves a close-up to show it's shimmer!

No Mambo Jambo

I also found GOSH polishes on sale!

Rainbow goodness! All were reduced to half price, I think they're discontinued
And last, I was pretty excited to find the brand Pieces in some amazing colours!

Ms. Jagger Green, Kryptonite, Soul Petrol & Plum Gum (ew on the name, LOL)
I've wanted colours like Kryptonite, Soul Petrol and Plum Gum for ages! And I never turn down a creme turquoise, LOL!

Sorry if I drowned you in pictures! Kudos if you made it to the end ;)

Give-away when I hit 25 followers!

I really appreciate those who follow my blog, a big thank you for reading my posts, watching my manicures, and for your comments ♥ That is why I have decided I will make a give-away when I hit 50 25 followers! (if I reach 50 followers within the timeframe of the give-away, I have a very neat 2nd prize ready).

It wouldn't be much of a post without showing you the prizes I've found so far, would it? ;)
I want to share one of my favourite polishes of all time - which is also the one that got me to admit that polishing my nails were more than just a regular habit, LOL! That nail polish also happens to be a gorgeous flake polish - and said to be much like Nfu-Oh's famous polishes!

GOSH Rainbow! And along with it, I stumbled upon a black effect polish, which is not being sold in the stores anymore. They make a cute couple, I think ♥

GOSH Bright Passion and Rainbow
Here's swatches over blank and black bases ~

GOSH Bright Passion and Rainbow

I might add more prizes along the way!

That's all for now!

OPI + Katy Perry = new glitters!!

OPI made a video showing the upcoming Katy Perry and Serena Williams collections - here's a link if you haven't seen it yet! I was holding my breath while watching...

This is what caught my fancy!

Teenage Dream - pic not mine, taken from press released video
Last Friday Night - pic not mine, taken from press released video

NEW GLITTERS!! Yay ♥ I think they look holo, but there's no way to be sure for now. They are, under all circumstances, going to be part of my collection.

Just had to share the exciting news! Check out the video if you want to see the Serena Williams set, the new shatter polish and the rest of the Katy Perry collection.

It's cloudy outside..

As it is on my nails! I decided to make a quick konadicure tonight while watching Simpsons. Admitted, I am exhausted from work and a very nice trip I went on afterwards with my mom. We went shopping in a town nearby and they had LOADS of nail polish goodness. I bought like 18 bottles or something! Will post pics soon ;)

One of my finds were a H&M colour called Happy Grey - I bought the two other one released together with it, Happy Purple and Happy Pink, and when I got back to the store nearby to pick up the last, Happy Grey was sold out. Bummer. But the H&M in the other town had just one left, yay! So of course I picked it up. Felt like polish fate LOL. Grey Sky has a subtle shimmer, not visible in the bottle but on the nail you can just make it out. Sadly, my pics weren't good enough to show it.

Happy Grey brings me to today's mani - I used Konad plates M3 and M79 to add some clouds and stars to the grey sky.

Excuse the bad pictures, my fingers looks yellow/red spotty, and the blurryness is my own sloppyness. I'll do better next time!

Happy Grey

Happy Grey

Happy Grey

*edit to add* Come to think of it, this colour is pretty close to the Deborah Lippmann colour Lady Gaga wears on the cover of Vanity Fair. Maybe that's why it sold out so quick?

That's everything I have for you today. I think i will spend the rest of this cold, wet and cloudy Monday under a blanket with a cup of hot chocoa!
