Gosh : Groovy Grey (meet my new love!)

Today I'll be showing one of my latest purchases! 

I've been eagerly waiting for Gosh to get a Spring/Summer display up, and last week my nearest drugstore had the new laqcuers in! They don't have a display, though, which I find a bit odd, they were tucked in with the regular display. It is incredibly hard to find anything about this collection, so I don't have much to tell about it. I found a picture on Google and I assume it's a stock photo, but if you took it, LMK so I can credit you or remove as you please

The new collection consists of four shades:

# Neon Baby

# Lavender Love

# Misty Mauve

# Groovy Grey

I recently bought Lavender Love which I'll be showing in a swatch party post in a few days ( swatching is fun, though editing takes time, lol), and Groovy Grey - while the two pinks looked sweet and fresh, as of now I don't feel the need to buy them (these are approx. 12$ each!). Maybe next time they are BOGO! :)

So, today is all about Groovy Grey. This is, to me, the star of the collection - as soon as I saw it, I thought about buying a back-up, LOL. It's a greige kind of colour - and I know you will immediately think of a certain dupe when seeing it, so stay tuned for a comparison!

I used my basecoat, NailTek II, and - make sure you see this - ONE average to thick coat of Groovy Grey - yes, it's a one-coater! Light will shine through your tip at this stage, so if you want it completely opaque, no light what-so-ever to shine through, two coats are needed, but I rarely build to that opaque level. I don't flash my nails directly on top of bright lamps, LOL! As long as my nail line isn't visible, I'm happy.

I decided to take two pictures and combine, since this polish can look warm and cold, depending on the light. In real life, it's closest to the picture on the left, but it was very hard to photograph IMO.

Isn't it beautiful? This is, without doubt, a perfect neutral colour ♥ I can see myself wearing this a lot! It'll be perfect for when I need a break from fancy, bright colours and darks ♥

Now, if you made it this far without thinking of Lippmann - Waking Up In Vegas, huge applause, LOL! I decided to do a comparison since I bet a few of you are interested.. Or so I hope, anyway ;) I also included another favourite of mine, H&M's Happy Grey. This one contains shimmer, so it's not a dupe, but colourwise, I was interested in seeing them side by side.

Close, yet so different! I think the small differences make a huge difference comparing to one's skin tone. Don't mind the stripes in the nails, it's the lightbox + flash that created them. As much as I love Lippmann's, I think Groovy Grey won me over for Spring.. It feels a little less thick/heavy on the nails, so to say, and the colour is a bit warmer too. Happy Grey is a pearl in my collection as well, since the shimmer is incredibly cute. All in all I'm a huge fan of these :)

H&M : Hunt Me Down

Hey girls!

Just a really quick post today to show you a colour I wore a week ago. I tried to spice it up with some Konad-ing, but failed miserably so I only have a clean creme to show you.

H&M is spot on with their nail polishes most of the time. Hunt Me Down is without doubt their take on the khaki-green from Chanel's collection the previous Fall. It's still a hot colour, and I find myself buying more and more clothes in this kind of colour, so I decided I had to try HMD :) 

I wore this colour just before filing my nails, and be sure that it was this picture that made me do it. My index fingernail was beginning to bend like crazy, yuck! 
It's a two-coater, with an okay formula - it wasn't breathtaking, nor was it a pain in the nail-buttocks!

 I've decided I don't like the "new" bottles/handles on H&M's nail polishes. The brush is really thin, making it impossible for me to cover my nails without using a lot of strokes - and the handle is not too comfortable already. And it's not like H&M can't produce other alternatives - they use plenty of other bottles for their limited/collaboration collections. I just get so frustrated when it's such a pleasure to apply an OPI polish, that some brands have to make it so hard! Oh well... If the colour is worth it, I buy it despite the bottle. I guess I'm just being so spoiled, using OPI's every so often ;)

Across The Universe

Yesterday I checked out H&M on my way home from work to see if they had gotten new nail polishes. They had! I bought 5 or so, and one of them is the base for today's manicure :)

It's a dark teal creme called Moody Model, a very shiny, almost jelly-ish polish - and wearing it, I realised what all the NARS Zulu fuss was all about. I love this type of nail polish! Even though it's "just" a creme, I couldn't stop looking at it (and I have been wearing OPI Mad as a Hatter for a week so it was hard to top LOL). This colour is hard to catch on pics so I will leave you with a no-flash and a flashed pic. The colour is something in between the two IRL.

In my humble opinion, H&M isn't exactly cheap polish - in Denmark this line costs about 8$, so I have pretty high expectations to the polish. Moody Model didn't disappoint one bit! I've wanted a perfect dark teal for a while and this one is right up my alley! :) I'm wearing two coats on the pictures.

Now, after having worn Moody Model for a day, I went to check it with my glitters to see if it would be a good base for any of them. To my luck Lippmanns Across The Universe looked pretty beside it, so I took the chance! I needed a little special polish today to lighten my mood anyway.

Here is the result! 2 coats Moody Model and 1 coat Across The Universe. One top coat for an almost smooth finish.

I love it! Not nearly as deep as Across The Universe is on it's own, but still very beautiful. And one bottle will last a lot longer if you use it as a top coat only every once in a while ;)

It's cloudy outside..

As it is on my nails! I decided to make a quick konadicure tonight while watching Simpsons. Admitted, I am exhausted from work and a very nice trip I went on afterwards with my mom. We went shopping in a town nearby and they had LOADS of nail polish goodness. I bought like 18 bottles or something! Will post pics soon ;)

One of my finds were a H&M colour called Happy Grey - I bought the two other one released together with it, Happy Purple and Happy Pink, and when I got back to the store nearby to pick up the last, Happy Grey was sold out. Bummer. But the H&M in the other town had just one left, yay! So of course I picked it up. Felt like polish fate LOL. Grey Sky has a subtle shimmer, not visible in the bottle but on the nail you can just make it out. Sadly, my pics weren't good enough to show it.

Happy Grey brings me to today's mani - I used Konad plates M3 and M79 to add some clouds and stars to the grey sky.

Excuse the bad pictures, my fingers looks yellow/red spotty, and the blurryness is my own sloppyness. I'll do better next time!

*edit to add* Come to think of it, this colour is pretty close to the Deborah Lippmann colour Lady Gaga wears on the cover of Vanity Fair. Maybe that's why it sold out so quick?

small nail polish haul + homemade bracelets

Hey! I want to show you what I got today!

My new polishes from Depend, BarryM, Models Own & ASOS Paint

All polishes except the one from Depend is from ASOS - I have another package coming from them, including a few very popular brands I'm excited to try out! My wallet isn't pleased, LOL! I couldn't help but buy they cute yellow shimmer when I was shopping today - along with this set from H&M ~

I should've taken it out of the plastic box, LOL! Glare ohoy!

I tested the cuticle cream today, and it has a great consistence.. but if you don't like the smell of perfume pear, it's not for you. I do like it, though!

I also wanted to show you something I've made - bracelets! I've made bracelets like these for a long time, I love doing anything creative and fun - so making jewellery is very me ;) These past weeks I have been focusing on getting and making bracelets that go well with my fav nail polish shades - mint green, aqua and ...that purple grey? Paradoxal colour, lol. My english isn't that great.

It takes quite a while to find the perfect beads, as I'm very picky - I use a blend of stone, glass, plastic beads. I hope you like them!

Not as fancy, but they work great with a casual outfit!

And I had to try out Models Own Purple Grey today. It was dark before I could take pictures, so the colour is off on these pics. I just know my nails are chipped when I get home from work tomorrow, so I can't take any better pics :( The picture featuring bracelets shows the colour pretty accurate.

I spiced up a migraine..

... But I had to do my nails. I recently started working in a retail store, and my nails suffer greatly. They chip, break (especially my middle finger) and I hate to admit it to myself - I'm not one to cry over a broken nail and I don't do much to avoid it. The way I see it, it's part of my job. It just annoys me a little that it makes my nails that much harder to represent well in my blog! Oh well. If I keep them reasonably short from now on, maybe my middlefinger can keep the same length as the rest of them! Until they've grown out, forgive 'em, will ya? :)

So, yesterday I got a very exciting package in the mail - the Coraline Konad Stamp set A! Three small bottles of konad polish, 2 plates, a stamp and a scraper. Just like this one (swiped off google) ~

I didn't see Coraline when it was released, I'm not much of a movie-theater person... In fact, it wasn't until recently when I found the dvd on sale I bought it and watched it. I soon regretted not watching it sooner; it's a great movie! I love Coralines personality, so cheeky :)

I decided to try out my two most recent blue polishes bought - GOSHs Gypsy Blue and H&M's Spending Cash with Carl. I ended up painting all my nails with Gypsy, and giving two nails SCwC. SCwC is a very sheer polish; it would take many coats to cover on its own.

I think I'm getting better at putting on polish without staining all my cuticles! This was one coat, I would def. use two if I didn't Konad 'em all over. Here's the result of some of the nails I did - they are the best of out the bunch, so to say. I'm super picky about myself today. I blame the migraine!

I used the special Konad yellow polish for the print, and have later added a topcoat. Gypsy Blue washed out a bit with the flash (as did SCwC). It's like the first picture in real life. And the bare looking spots on pic two is reflection, too. One coat Gypsy w/ one coat SCwC covers greatly.

As for plates, I used the two special Coraline plates and M3 for all the stars. Painstakenly put on one at a time.

I want to ask you readers, if you have any experience with top coats over Konadicures? It smudges so easily for me, but I haven't tried other coats than Mavala and Gosh top coat. Do you have any experience with the special Konad top coat? Is it worth the pennies?

Anyway, that's all for today! I should get to bed again and rest my sore head. God I love migraines. Not!

Catrice swatches and todays' mani!

The weather was great today and I managed to take a few pics to share! I wasn't feeling like doing my nails at all after work - I was so tired and freezing, so were looking into a date with my bed, LOL. But after a shower, a quick vacuum cleaning I felt refreshed and decided to try out my new Konad plates! But first, the Catrice swatches!

My mom bought these when they went to Germany to visit my brother (sadly there were no room in the car for me, sigh) - she's always super supportive of my hobbies and spoils me rotten when she can <3

Let's start with two super-girly colours - Princess For a Day & I Scream Peach!

I Scream Peach is more of a soft, peachy colour - like the picture of the bottle. I have no idea why the swatch pic came out so dark! They are both great formula, PFoD is a bit on the thin side, but did cover nicely with two coats.

Next up is one of my favourites, London's Weather Forecast, along with Back to Black & Poison Me Poison You. L'sWF is a nice grey with a very subtle shimmer to it, BtB & PMPY also have shimmer, though less subtle.

And last, my two favourites! Sold Out Forever is said to be a very close dupe to the famous Jade from Chanel - I don't have Jade to compare, but from what I've seen in other blogs it looks pretty darn close! Good enough for me, lol. I Sea You is a gorgeous dark mint creme with a light turqouise touch.

Sold Out Forever even has subtle shimmer, it's VERY pretty! I can't wait 'till I find an excuse to wear this one - it'll have to be soon!

All in all, my favourites are SOF, ISY and LWF... I'm a sucker for grey, mint green and turqouise shades.

I also want to show you the quick mani I did - I didn't have time to clean up my cuticles or all the mistakes from KONAD-ing, so bear with the grubby fingers! I had to use the little light that was left :)

And the base was this GORGEOUS purplish pink from H&M, Get a Rose 4 Me ~

It only took one coat to cover, which was awsome as I had little time left! If I weren't stamping, I would've used two, but one was sufficient with a pattern on top :) Get a Rose 4 Me is a very pretty pink with a purple touch to it - the colour is famously known as "granny-pink" in my family, LOL. It's not a bad thing, it's just a way of saying it's toned down compared to baby pink.

Dappen dish? *Update*

Today I received my very first nail polish bought online - and it wasn't a polish per say. It's Essie's Matte About You - a matte topcoat I've seen featured on a lot of blogs and wanted to try out for myself!I bought it from Ebay, and the seller wrote "dappen dish" under the customs note - I have no idea what that means! But I didn't have to pay custom fee's, so I'm good!

My first online bought nail polish! Definitely not the last!

Yesterday I went into town to buy a few polishes I had been looking at a few days ago. I thought I could live without them, but when I got home I started to regret not buying them, so I figured I might as well get them before they're sold out ;) I bought all of them in H&M, let's take a look...

The first is a mini, called "Grey Sky" - it's very subtle but it is a shimmer. It has a pinkish purple tint to it, an is not a shade I would usually wear - but I have plans for this one..

Up next is one I decided to try immediately after getting home. It's called Mambo and I'm pretty sure it's an older release - it looks nothing like the current lines, or maybe the H&M in my area doesn't carry the particular line (I'm pretty sure you think whatever, right? LOL). There was only one left, so I was thrilled to see it hadn't been sold :)

It's a pretty nothing-too-special dark purple - it's way more warm than the pictures show, though! Here's pictures!

I also bought my first glittery polishes from the Hello Kitty Make-up line - I love Hello Kitty so I thought it a great opportunity to try out some bling bling! Their names are pretty basic, Glitter Silver and Glitter Purple. My camera had problems picking up the warm purple again.. It might have something to do with the crappy, clouded sky outside!

I decided to try out Glitter Purple on top of Mambo, and here's what it looks like ~

I like the result, especially considering these are both cheap polishes - I paid 29,95 dkr. for Mambo and 24,95 dkr. for each Glitter. It's a bit too flashy for everyday use (at least for me), but then again it brightens any grey day. It's a combo I'm pretty sure I will use in the future when I'm in the mood for purple! After I was done taking pictures, I looked at my new matte topcoat and thought "hey... that might make the blend a little less bling!" I tried it on one nail and I love it! I hope I have time to do a shot tomorrow to show you :)

Update ~ to show with Essie's Matte about you topcoat - on my thumb! Se the difference? I think it looks great! Sadly, the camera focused on the glittery ones, not the matte.. Oh well. Next time I'll do better :)
